The History of Conover Station - Rail Map

If the Conover Station site could talk it would tell you a rich story of the industrious nature and ingenuity of the people of our area. For over a century the Conover Station site was buzzing with the manufacturing of numerous goods ranging from furniture to gloves to axe handles. Upon the closure of the Broyhill Furniture factory in 2005, the City of Conover fearing the future of this imposing vacant structure took a bold step. By purchasing the property the City took a visionary approach in helping to ensure the future vitality of the central business district and the community in general. Since 2005 the City has explored opportunities for the Broyhill Redevelopment area, which is now referred to as “Conover Station”. The City has been fortunate to receive over 6.8 million dollars in grant funding that is making the dream of Conover Station a reality.
